Iraq, Rocked by Protests, Enters New Phase of Uncertainty After Premier’s Resignation

Baghdad—the Iraqi Parliament accepted Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi’s resignation on Sunday, opening a new phase in the scramble to find a replacement as anti-government protests continue to grip the country.

Mr. Abdul-Mahdi, said Friday he will resign, in response to a strong accusations by the country’s top cleric of the government’s handling of the protests, in which nearly 400 people died, because at the beginning of October.
