How to watch ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’

What: The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Where to watch: Disney+

Premiere date: March 19, 2021

When it comes to mid-pandemic entertainment, Marvel is really carrying the team on its back: Hot off the heels of the wildly successful superhero sitcom WandaVision arrives The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, a new odd couple-y action series that sees Sam Wilson (the Falcon) and Bucky Barnes (the Winter Soldier) teaming up in a post-Captain America world.

Marvel’s dished very few details about the highly anticipated show ahead of its upcoming premiere, which is pretty much par for its course, but there are a few important questions you should have answered before the first episode drops. Here’s the scoop.

How can I watch The Falcon and the Winter Soldier?

Just like WandaVision (and all of the other new MCU original series Marvel has planned for 2021), TFATWS will air exclusively on Disney+. It’s currently scheduled for a six-episode run starting Friday, March 19, with new episodes dropping weekly on the streaming platform at midnight PST (or 3 a.m. EST).

Which Marvel movie(s) should I watch before tuning in?

Mashable senior entertainment reporter Alexis Nedd recommends binging five other Marvel movies to fully understand Sam and Bucky’s saga: Captain America: The First Avenger; Captain America: The Winter Soldier; Avengers: Age of Ultron; Avengers: Infinity War; and Avengers: Endgame. What are people saying about the show so far?

Early viewers’ first impressions are *extremely* promising, to say the least. To quote Bossip editor Jason Lee: “All I can say is that the opening 10 minutes is in my personal favorite top 5 Marvel action sequences ever.” (For more initial reactions, click here.)

If you haven’t yet signed up for Disney+, you can do so for $6.99 a month or $69.99 a year up until March 25; Disney’s jacking up the price to $7.99 a month or $79.99 annually starting March 26. (Sorry — there’s no free trial even for new subscribers.)
