In a recent Wall Street Journal article “The Power of Friendship Across Generations,” Clare Ansberry wrote about close friendships between people who are 15 years or more apart in age. These intergenerational friendships tend to be long-lasting and enriching. Readers responded with their own stories. Here are edited excerpts of their comments.
Love this story. Pre-Covid I taught a strength-training course in my community and the majority of the women who regularly attended were 15-20 years older than me. They have made my life so much fuller with their perspectives on life and general awesomeness.
And on the flip side, a close friend who is 12 years younger than me is always energetic and fun to have in my life. Intergenerational friendships are incredible gifts.
