The TV show I can’t stop watching

Black women, it’s often challenging to find an accurate depiction of your own media…

So, when I heard that I could destroy you, starring Michaela Coel—who makes me want to get my head shaved, forever—I’m interested. My first experience with her work was in her funny 2015 display, chewing gum. The image of the struggle with her deep religious education immediately brings me comfort, because I made very similar. Fast forward to our weekly amplification call for work: everyone is talking about her new show on HBO. It has been on my list, so I opened that night and quickly binge on every available plot.

Coel, show runner, Director and writer of 12 episodes of the series, playing Arabella, a young writer living in London who is rapidly approaching the deadline for her manuscript. The night before the due date, she crashes a party with friends at the bar to blow off some steam. When she the next morning, she is in her office. Only the memorable tide the night before, she had together everything that happened. This story is based on an attack that actually happened to Coel, is heart-wrenching and beautifully complex, as it explores sexuality, consent and psychological response to trauma.

By telling such a raw and deeply personal story, Coel said, in the interview with Vulture:”I’m part of the desire to get people of the right to life, to live it, no obstacles, not rejection, not afraid to let your power and see what happens.” This display done this, and the rest of wisdom, hilarious and very honest.

Watch the show, glued to my trusted isolation of the sofa, I very easily placed yourself in both Coel and Arabella shoes. Both are young, up and coming Black advertising in their field, who can deal with an obvious deadline, give into procrastination. It feels like my own story are coming back to tell me, and it’s something I hope I see more and more.

I also like to learn Coel decided to partner with the BBC. She refused $ 1 million from Netflix so she can have their own rights, and her story, she has written 191 draft of the show before she chose the right one! It shows! I can’t wait for more episodes launch every Monday. I can’t get enough.

What new shows did you love? I like to hear!

P. S. What TV section you see a couple?
