PS5 Could Lose Out on Upgraded Versions of Past Bethesda Games

Dishonored PS5

You’ll know by now that Microsoft has acquired Zenimax Media and all the developers it owns, including the likes of Arkane Studios, Machine Games, and id Software. This throws into question whether or not the likes of Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI will come to PlayStation 5, but there now may be a few other releases launching a lot sooner that come with the possibility of skipping the system. IGN has spotted ESRB ratings for next-gen collections of the Dishonored, Wolfenstein, and PREY titles and the PS5 is nowhere to be seen.

The ESRB now lists a Dishonored & Prey: The Arkane Collection and a Wolfenstein: Alt History Collection purely for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. The latter might sound familiar because the bundle actually already exists on the PlayStation Store, and so too does the former. The only discrepancy is that it released under the Arkane Anniversary Collection branding. We wouldn’t take this as hard evidence that PS5 will miss out on these next-gen enhancements, but the fact that the console is missing from these ESRB listings could definitely suggest that is the case.

It’s also worth noting that Bethesda has already confirmed that DOOM Eternal and The Elder Scrolls Online will both receive free PS5 upgrades in the future. That announcement did take place before the Microsoft purchase, however. Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time also has an age rating only on Xbox Series X right now too, but there’s no way Activision will skip on a PS5 version for that. Do you think this will be the case here too, or are the Dishonored, Wolfenstein, and PREY games set to receive enhancements just on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S? Debate away in the comments below.
