Fannie, Freddie earnings to improve signs of housing market recovery

The government-controlled mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac said their income improved in the second quarter, to be proof of a rebound in the U.S. housing market.

Fannie Mae, the larger of the two companies said that the 5.7%of single family loans it guarantees on behalf of the relevant 972,000 mortgageā€”had to suspend payment on 30 September, from 7%reported 1,when it released first-quarter earnings.
